Becoming a Member:

We encourage guests to stop by to join us for any regularly scheduled Friday meeting so that they can see how our club works and get a good feel for the dynamics of our group.  Once a guest decides to join the club the Vice President of Membership will help them fill out a simple application and pay the appropriate dues.

Dues for the club are $47 or less to join and only $39 per term (6 months) to renew. Included in membership are the subscription to the Toastmaster's International magazine, a Competent Leadership (CL) manual, a Competent Communications (CC) Manual, and a Toastmaster Membership Pin.

For additional information, use the "Contact Us" link to contact the Club's V.P. of Membership.

What to Expect:

In the Daybreak Toastmasters club, a diverse group gathers every Friday to practice the art of public speaking. We have members who are just getting their feet wet, and others who are seasoned veterans. The mix is just right to allow those who want to speak to step up when they are comfortable, and those who have spoken to practice and guide others.

We believe in encouraging all members by offering positive reinforcement and enthusiastic, helpful evaluations.  Our members give their constant support throughout their interaction within the group.

Meeting Format:

For a specific look at the outline of the meeting, simply click on the "Public Downloads" link and open one of our sample agendas. The agenda provides an example of how the club duties are divided amongst members each week.

During the actual club meeting, the President opens the meetings with a brief warm up exercise and opening announcements, followed by the introduction of the Toastmaster of the Week.  The Toastmaster of the Week is the club member that has been pre-assigned to run the meeting in a structured way for that week.  A typical meeting will consist of three speeches, an oral evaluation of each speech, and an impromptu session of speaking called Table Topics.

All speaking and evaluation roles are pre-assigned in the weeks before the meeting. The Table Topics part of the meeting is open to any member and/or guest that volunteers to participate on the spot. Other members of the club, who are not speaking or evaluating, may also be assigned the roles of timing, tracking grammar or counting ahs, uhms and pregnant pauses. Additionally, some members will tally votes for best speaker, evaluator and table topics presenter; concoct a list of questions to ask the group at the end to see how well they were listening throughout the meeting; and to share a quote to inspire or tell a joke to lighten the mood. The meeting is split in half by a break that allows members to mingle and catch up, as well as, enjoy a little breakfast snack provided by a another pre-assigned member.

Times:

Yes, yes...we know...it's early!!! But, what better way to start of a Friday than this. You get to head into the weekend feeling a sense of accomplishment and hopefully catching up on your sleep on Saturday and Sunday. The meeting begins promptly at 7 a.m. and finishing never any later than 8:30 a.m.. Our preconstructed agenda allows the members to get out exactly on time every Friday.
